National Parks & Wildlife Service: Outreach Visit

Jenni and Liz visited Holly Class on Monday morning and taught us all about Irish animals. We learned about badgers, hares, rabbits, otters, stoats, deer, pygmy shrews, hedgehogs and many more. Jenni told us about what they eat and where they live. Did you know that a hedgehog’s quills (spikes) are made from the same material as our fingernails? We saw a badger scratching his body and searching the ground for food in a video taken at night in Coole Park. Jenni and Liz brought along a collection of taxidermy animals for us to touch too. We really enjoyed their visit. There is a lot of interesting information on their website https://www.npws.ie/ Thanks again, Jenni and Liz!
