As part of our EAL lessons this week, we chatted a bit about Ukraine and the towns that the boys and girls in our group come from. We discussed what the pupils miss about Ukraine and also what they love about Ireland.
Today, we entered some information and instructions for ChatGPT and created a poem. We hope you enjoy reading it.
A Poem for Ireland and Ukraine
In Ireland’s dawn we walk to school beneath a gentle sky,
Yet thoughts of home in Ukraine still flutter softly by.
We miss our family’s laughter, grandad’s stories told with cheer,
And grandma’s arms, so warm and soft, we wish that they were here.
Our aunt and uncles, brothers, cousins—love that never ends,
Our dad, dear Sima, and the cats, our cuddly furry friends.
White, grey, and black-and-white they’d purr and curl upon the floor,
And Squirrel, Grey would chase the light that danced across the door.
Kateryna loves Halloween—an Irish treat so new,
A holiday Ukraine does not celebrate or do.
Arina misses Daddy’s meals, the magic that he made,
While Olesia dreams of Bronka, Boni, Archie as they played.
We miss our toys and books and sweets, the chocolate we adore,
Yet Ireland feels like kindness from the teachers we explore.
Olesia loves the Christmas time, the dinner served at school,
The Christmas food that warms the heart when winter’s cold and cool.
Misha, Daniil love games they play with glowing screens so bright,
And all of us love Planet Earth, a world of green and light.
Though Ukraine calls across the miles with memories deep inside,
We hold both homes within our hearts—two worlds we keep with pride.
