Bealtaine

On Wednesday, we walked to Clare Museum for a workshop with Ruth Marshall. Ruth told us about traditions and stories linked to the Celtic feast of Bealtaine.

We really enjoyed our time with Ruth. She taught us a lovely dance and song that we tried at school the following day. Our May King and Queen gave all of the children a ribbon for our May bush. On Thursday, we made a wish (a wish for someone else) and tied the ribbons to the branch of a Rowan tree in our classroom.

Bealtaine marks the traditional start of summer. We are looking forward to washing our faces with the May dew on the 1st of May! Thanks again, Ruth.
