The Student Council, Fiona, Jill and Lisa have been very much looking forward to Wellbeing Week. It takes place from March 23rd – 27th. We are having a blast and we hope you are too! Here are the slides we shared with each class.
Wellbeing encompasses quality of life and the ability of people and societies to contribute to the world with a sense of meaning and purpose.
Mindful Monday
Saorlaith and Nwakaife visited classrooms today. Our quote was: You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection. Máire led whole-school yoga in Cois na hAbhna for every class. Pupils and staff loved it! We are very grateful to Máire for doing this again this year. She has such a calm presence and speaks encouragingly to everyone. We felt very peaceful afterwards. Pupils also took part in mindful colouring today.

Thoughtful Tuesday
Saorlaith and Mykyta visited classrooms today. Our quote for the day was: One small act of kindness can start a chain reaction. The rain didn’t dampen our spirits today. We focused on things we are grateful for, being kind and wrote thank you cards to special people in our lives. We are excited to add leaves to our gratitude tree outside Clare’s office.

Wellness Wednesday
Ishioma and Abdullahi visited classrooms today. Our quote was Positive thoughts bring positive outcomes. With Jill’s help, the Student Council organised Active Stations for every class. The pupils exercised at each station for 3 minutes. The skills practised included: Basketball shooting, soccer dribbling, wall sits, skipping and target practice! Some classes did a nature hunt outside and others did a mindful walk along the school’s active walkway. Thanks to Seán for sharing the resources with us.

Try-It-Out Thursday
James and Jonath visited classrooms today. Today is a perfect day to start something new was our inspirational quote. Pupils across the school were invited to try some new foods: pecans, corn cakes, stuffed olives and dates. The older classes were encouraged to try goal-setting. Fiona and the Student Council played a game called ‘Chinese Jump Rope’ with all classes. It is a fun game that some teachers used to play at school when they were younger! “Banana, banana, banana, split! Strawberry, strawberry, strawberry twirl”
Feel Good Friday
Ishioma and Abdullahi visited classrooms this morning. Our quote for today was taken from Harry Potter. Happiness can always be found, even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light (Albus Dumbledore). Classes had a chance to play with chalk and bubbles on the yard and were treated to some extra yard time.
Thank you to the Student Council for all of your hard work! We hope everyone has a lovely break.
