Every Friday for the past few weeks our hurling coach Rachel from Banner GAA who comes in to teach us hurling. All pupils from Elm, Hazel and juniors to 6th class get to do hurling. My class goes out around 12:15pm and we go back in at 12:45. Hurling is really fun. We get to do relays, solos, passing and running drills and much more! At the start Rachel tells us to get a hurley and a ball we get to do a game where we put the beanbags in the middle of the court then when Rachael blows the whistle and we all have to run in rolling the bean bags with our the hurleys back to our groups.
On the 10th of June Rachel kindly invited members of 1st class to a monster schools blitz at the Banner GAA grounds. Having been picked up by a bus organised by Banner GAA, pupils had a fantastic partaking in games, enjoying ice-cream and returned to school with huge smiles on their faces and even a trophy to both.
