Garda Station Visit

Rowan, Willow and Oak classes were delighted to be invited to Ennis Garda Station as part of the centenary celebrations of An Garda Síochána. We were greeted by a variety of emergency services including the Gardaí, the Fire Service, the ambulance service and Clare Civil Defence. Members of each service gave us a taste of life in their role. We got to use a fire hose, check vehicles for speeding and we even performed some breathalyser tests…as usual, we all passed!! We saw drones in action, got up close to some Garda horses and we even met some members of the armed response unit who showed us their guns, ammunition and pepper spray. Towards the end of the visit, we got to tour around the Garda station and some of us nearly got locked up in a cell…we promise never to miss a night’s homework again!! We had a super time and are very grateful to Community Garda Irene O’Flynn for inviting us to attend.
